Mayer Defends Voters electing their 'Watchdog'

posted Jul 28, 2012, 8:20 AM by Allen Mayer
Allen Mayer is leading a bi-partisan fight to keep the County Auditor's position elected. "Voters ought to be able to choose who their watchdog is going to be," said Mayer, "Do you really want the politicians and the bureaucrats choosing for you?" Despite a 5-3 loss in the Executive Committee, Mayer is optimistic that the proposal to make the Auditor an appointed position will fail on the full Board floor. Mayer was joined by Board Members Carol Trumpe and Lynn Scott Pearson -- the most senior Republican and Democratic members of the Board.
