No More Pensions for Peoria County Board Members

At its August meeting, the Peoria County Board voted 17-0 to terminate participation in the IMRF pension plan for County Board members.

"A majority of the board does not put in the minimum 1,000 hours a year so we need to withdraw, it is as simple as that," said Allen Mayer.

The move is expected to save taxpayers about $40,000 per year.

As the Journal Star noted, "It's rare to see politicians give up a financial perk, but that's exactly what the Peoria County Board did..."
