Voters to Decide on County Election Commission

This November Peoria County voters will decide whether to simplify elections and put them under the control of a bi-partisan board with professional staff. Allen Mayer "led the charge for the referendum" that by some accounts has been over 25 years in the making. Mayer called it a "put up or shut up moment" for the County Board.  For many years the County Board has voted to make a countywide election commission a part of the strategic plan and legislative agenda. "Now the voters get to decide," added Mayer.
